Have A “Yard of Beer” at The Yardhouse Restaurant – Palm Desert, California

While on our visit to Palm Desert, we kept hearing people talk about “The Yardhouse,” a restaurant known for its selection of beer on tap and its famous “yard of beer”. In fact, the place touts that it offers “The Worlds Largest Selection of Draft Beer.” Intrigued, we decided to try it. The Yardhouse is located in a popular shopping/dining area called “The River.” We headed to The River a little before 6 in the evening. It was a Friday night, so, we figured it may be busy, and we were prepared to wait…

The Ambiance
After locating a parking space at The River during peak hours on a Friday night (no small feat), we headed on foot to the restaurant. The Yardhouse is a fairly large restaurant, and it was buzzing when we walked in.

We were greeted by a friendly hostess, who asked how many. We were sat immediately (would Yard of beer at the Yardhouse.have taken longer for a booth, but we were fine with a table). The place was relatively loud, as you would expect in a popular sports bar style restaurant on a Friday night. There were TVs posted everywhere – a baseball game here, a football game there.

The Service and Food
After we were sat, we received water almost immediately. Our server arrived shortly thereafter. She was smiling, friendly and helpful. She was also pretty knowledgeable about the menu (I could tell because, I ask a lot of questions). I was in a popular beer restaurant, so, I decided to try one. I told the server that I liked tasty and mild beers, she recommended a few options, I settled on the Primo Blue Hawaiian Hefenweisen with a slice of lemon. Turned out to be a good choice, I enjoyed it. I didn’t really know what I wanted to eat, and our waitress was very patient with me, answering all my questions and making recommendations.

My husband had been told by some friends of ours that the Seared Ahi Tuna Sandwich was incredible. He decided on that, I opted for the french dip, only, I wanted it on their cheese Food at the Yardhouse in Palm Desert.bread, which they did for me. The food came out incredibly fast. I mean, fast. I was impressed! It was also quite tasty and felt like quality ingredients were used (none of those stringy fatty things in my beef sandwich). We both enjoyed the meals. We had a great time chit chatting and looking at some of the sports games on the many televisions. We also marveled as we saw one of the items they are famous for being served a “yard” of beer. In other words, unusually tall beer glasses brimming with the beverage. That was neat to see.

We were offered dessert, but, being quite satisfied for the moment, we opted to finish our meal and walk around The River. (We ended up going for Starbucks and one of their new maple scones, delicious by the way, a little later on). We had a very pleasant experience at this dining establishment, I really liked the environment, and, would eat there again.
