Our first morning in Palm Desert, we were starving! The timeshare resort we were staying at, Marriott’s Desert Springs Villas, did not serve breakfast. Neither did the Applebee’s down the street (they did, but not until 11 AM). We were directed to a “good locals” restaurant in a nearby shopping center, but couldn’t find that either. Happy coincidence had us stumble upon Goody’s – thank goodness! This turned out to be a great local’s spot (many were there).
The Location
Goody’s is located in the shopping center on the corner of Country Club and Monterey in Rancho Mirage, California, right by the Starbucks! =) I have to admit, I didn’t think the place looked like much from the outside, but, they advertised breakfast, lunch and dinner, and, there was a good amount of people entering.
The Ambience
When you enter you see booths and tables lined up. There is a counter to the left, this is where you place your order. There is a soda fountain straight ahead next to the usual condiment and napkin spot. It feels fairly clean and “yummy food” focused with no frills.
The Food
We placed our order at the counter, after considering their ample breakfast selection. I ordered
an egg and sausage sandwich, my husband had the Mexican omelete. Both items were delivered to our table, quickly. My sandwich was tasty, complete with mayo (I wiped a bit of this off as I am a “light mayo” gal). My husband really enjoyed his omelete, nearly finishing the entire thing. As we ate, more and more locals entered, including a large number of construction guys.
I’d eat here again. They focus on fast and tasty food, and they do that well. After this yummy experience, we topped it off with a Pumpkin Spice Latte (me) and a traditional Latte (my husband) at the Starbucks a few doors down. A perfect end to a yummy breakfast.
