My Favorite Things is a fine gift boutique in Crestline, California, near Lake Arrowhead. I have had the pleasure of shopping here many times. They pride themselves in offering upscale, unique, and, in many cases, one of a kind items for the discriminating lady. Whenever I have a gift to buy for a female in my life, I go here first. Last night my husband and I enjoyed dinner at a new restaurant, Cucina Cielo. This fantastic place is located off Hwy 18 in Sky Forest, near Lake Arrowhead, California. Their concept is tasty, flavorful Italian food in an upscale, yet warm and comfortable atmosphere, with excellent service AND super decent prices. This combination of atmosphere, quality and pricing has them poised to be a smash hit with locals and tourists alike. I am SUPER picky, Read the rest of this entry »
While in Palm Desert with friends, we had the opportunity to enjoy a dinner at Morton’s Steakhouse. I had heard of Morton’s Steakhouse before, but had never eaten there. As we drove by one evening, looking for a place to have dinner, the tantilizing aroma Read the rest of this entry »
While visiting Palm Desert we enjoyed a dinner at the Blue Coyote in Palm Springs. We had heard many great things about this restaurant, including the fact that their margaritas were tasty…and strong! I think the best margarita on the menu is Read the rest of this entry »
Our first morning in Palm Desert, we were starving! The timeshare resort we were staying at, Marriott’s Desert Springs Villas, did not serve breakfast. Neither did the Applebee’s down the street (they did, but not until 11 AM). We were directed to a “good locals” restaurant in a nearby shopping center, but couldn’t find that either. Happy coincidence had us stumble upon Goody’s – thank goodness! This turned out to be a great local’s spot (many were there). Read the rest of this entry »
During our stay in Palm Desert, we decided to visit the Living Desert. A truly unique and interesting place. This location feels like a cross between a zoo and a wild animal park. The acreage this destination has allows you to witness, up close, animals in large chunks of what appear to be like their native environments. (I was only 8 feet away from a cheetah at one point). Plus, where else in Southern California can you spend the night in teepees, in the middle of a park that feels like you are in the plains of Africa? Read the rest of this entry »
While on our visit to Palm Desert, we kept hearing people talk about “The Yardhouse,” a restaurant known for its selection of beer on tap and its famous “yard of beer”. In fact, the place touts that it offers “The Worlds Largest Selection of Draft Beer.” Intrigued, we decided to try it. Read the rest of this entry »
Good Atmosphere, Decent Prices, Tasty Food
After our fun-filled excursion to the Cabazon Outlet Stores we were starving! We recalled hearing about a restaurant that used to be in Lake Arrowhead, CA called the Cedar Creek Inn. We had passed it the other night on our way back to the timeshare after leaving the Blue Coyote. Since we had just eaten a lovely and quite elegant meal only the night before at Morton’s Steakhouse in Palm Desert, I was in the mood for something a little more casual – but with great atmosphere and yummy food. Outlet shopping at its finest – only a few minutes from Palm Desert and Palm Springs, and only a brief drive from the Inland Empire of Southern California. This is Cabazon.
Getting There
After lunch, my husband and I left the Palm Desert timeshare we were staying at and headed for the shopping paradise of Cabazon (yes, even my husband wanted to go – they have great shopping for guys too). This outlet center is located off the 10 freeway at 48750 Seminole Drive in Cabazon, California. It took us only 25-30 minutes to get there. There are 3 main areas of outlet stores, we parked at the 3rd one on the far end. Happily we decided to go on a Thursday, and, there were no real crowds. Read the rest of this entry »
