Dinner at the Famous Blue Coyote – Eat Outside and Have a “Wild” Margarita! Palm Springs, California

While visiting Palm Desert we enjoyed a dinner at the Blue Coyote in Palm Springs. We had heard many great things about this restaurant, including the fact that their margaritas were tasty…and strong! I think the best margarita on the menu is Wild Tropical Mango! We were also told that the ambience was great, so, we decided to give it a try.

The Location
The Blue Coyote is located in Palm Springs, California at 445 North Palm Canyon Drive. The direct line is (760) 327-1196. This is on the “main strip” in Palm Springs, so, even though we went on a Monday night, we did not locate parking along the main street. However, there was plenty of parking around the back, with easy access to the back entrance. We just took a side driveway after we passed the restaurant and found a great spot to park.

The Ambience
After parking, we entered through the “back” entrance (though it felt like a front entrance) into the outdoor dining area. This area is setup more like a traditional, upscale, Mexican village. There were lights on the trees, fountains, traditional Spanish tile, and even 3-walled buildings with dining inside (your own private dining area). The ambience was very inviting, friendly and authentic feeling. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and sat immediately. We selected a table for 4 near the back entrance, right by a large fountain.

The Service and Food
We were greeted rather quickly by a friendly waiter who was quite knowledgeable about the menu. I am picky and ask lots of questions. First, after all I’d heard about these famous margaritas, I wanted to know about those. They offer both a “Wild Coyote” margarita and a “Regular Coyote” margarita. The difference is the “Wild” version has more alcohol and fresh lime juice instead of sweet and sour. I opted for a “Wild Coyote Tropical Mango” margarita, no salt. My dad also ordered a wild one, but in Melon.

We received chips and salsa along with waters. The margaritas came soon after…mine was yummy! I inquired if real mangos were used. They weren’t, but it was still great! The melon version was also pretty good, but I prefer mango. We placed our order. My husband and I split the fresh fish tacos. We had plenty of food! The tacos came with large chunks of fish, with black beans and rice on the side. They were fresh and delicious.

Football!!
After we finished eating…we retired to another table, in one of the indoor areas, right across from the big screen TV to watch football! A great way to end the dinner. We ate dessert and had coffee at the new table, visited, and watched the game. Our waiter was very accommodating and friendly. We experienced great service and yummy food. I really enjoyed the ambience. I would happily eat here again.
